All You Need Is Love

I am thoroughly convinced of this.  If there was more love to go around, our kids wouldn’t slip through the cracks.  They wouldn’t become truant.  They wouldn’t join gangs. They need to feel valued.  They need to know that we believe in them – that we trust them with our future.  That there is hope for them.  All they need is love.

I am thankful for you, my friends, who extended yourselves to one of my kids today – and told him that you believe in him.  He saw a glimmer of his future today – a vision of happiness.  He gained hope and optimism.  He gained confidence.  He gained the love that he deserves and requires to stay on the right path.  This kid will be alright, now, thanks to you.

(But the job is never done…)

Seeking Leadership Mentors

DECA, the student marketing club I run, is largely centered on developing leadership skills.  With the recent opening of the Student Store, my kids are stressed! We desperately need to work on team building, communication and leadership.  If you really liked ropes courses and trust falls in high school, this opportunity is for you!

Bring your best leadership activities to our DECA meetings, Tuesdays from 3:00pm – 4:00pm.

DECA is an extension of my Marketing class, so there are also plenty of opportunities to infuse leadership activities into my curriculum.  If you can spare some time during 4th period (11:35 – 12:25), let me know!

I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for kids to have positive role models and mentors.  They are always so honored to have a guest in the classroom.  You will feel like a hero – and you will really, truly be one to them!

Volunteer System Needed

I have so many wonderful volunteers who pop into my classroom for an hour here or an hour there.  I need a file drawer and file/folder system where they can just automatically go to to retrieve projects.  I always need help grading, inputting grades, tracking “Extra Time” by filling out forms, filling out reimbursement forms, running paperwork to the office or to our school accountant, placing Student Store orders, etc.  Teaching is hugely administrative, and comes without the necessary time to handle administrative work.
